Cornwall at Christmas

Cornwall isn’t the first place you’d of think to visit at Christmas, but it’s a magical time of year.

So here’s my pick of my favourite festive things to do in Cornwall.

Next weekend is the ‘Made in Cornwall Christmas Fair’  from Wednesday 26th to Sunday 30th November .  Situated on the Piazza in Truro, there is literally something for everyone.

The Mousehole Harbour Lights ‘switch on’ is on Saturday 13th December at 7.30pm.

There will be an open-air Carolaire service with the Mousehole Male Voice Choir and the Pendeen Silver Band.  The lights will shine until January 3rd with the exception of December 19th when they are dimmed in Memory of the loss of Solomon Browne in 1981.

The Lost Gardens of Heligan are holding three magical Cornish Christmas Nights with free entry to the lantern lit gardens.  5.30 to 9pm with last entry at 7.30pm on December 1st, 8th and 15th.

The Cathedral in Truro has some particularly lovely Carol Services.  The ‘From Darkness to Light’ Advent Carol Service with the Cathedral Choir on Sunday 7th December at 6pm and on  December 23rd and 24th the atmospheric Nine Lessons and Carols Services at 7pm.

All the gardens and galleries of Cornwall make a particular effort at Christmas and visits to anywhere will be bright and fun.
